About Harris Baseball Softball

Harris Baseball and Softball started its journey to a recreational ballpark in 1979, buying the current property in 1981 from the Minix family. Throughout the early 90's, fields were added and improved with the addition of irrigation, along with the maintenance building (the Barn) and the concession stand. The first step of lighting was added to Field 7 in 1995.

By 2004, Harris was providing the opportunity to over 1,000 players to experience recreational baseball and softball! Lights were added to Fields 1 and 2 in 2005, allowing added growth and extending the playing time/season. By 2012, the park was debt free from all park improvements!

In 2021, the park added another large improvement to our fields by adding lights to Fields 3, 4 and 8. The state-of-the-art Musco LED lights allow us to efficiently continue to provide instruction and play times earlier in the Spring and later in the Fall!

As a board, we continue to strive to provide quality instruction for all baseball and softball players in our area, at whatever level they find themselves. This is accomplished by a large amount of work from the numerous volunteer coaches, umpires and hard working fields crews!

Harris Baseball Softball is called to emphasize the education of baseball and softball rules, teach the fundamentals, mental and physical development, a respect for the rules of the game and basic ideals of sportsmanship and fair play. In all aspects, Harris Baseball Softball is committed to provide the youth of our community with the very best educational sports experience possible. It is our fundamental belief that every child with a desire to play baseball or softball be afforded that opportunity.

Harris Baseball Softball is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. Notwithstanding any other provision of these Articles, Harris Baseball Softball shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on by a Corporation exempt from Federal Income Tax under such provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. No substantial part of the activities of Harris Baseball Softball shall be attempting to influence legislation. 

At Harris Baseball Softball, all parents and coaches pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for children participating in Harris Baseball Softball sports by following this Code of Ethics:

• I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other Harris Baseball Softball sports event.
• I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win. I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.
• I will require that my child's coach uphold the same Code of Ethics.
• I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
• I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, and firearms and will refrain from their use at all Harris Baseball Softball sports events.
• I will remember that the game is for youth not adults.
• I will do my very best to make Harris Baseball Softball sports fun for my child.
• I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
• I will help my child enjoy the Harris Baseball Softball sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching, or providing transportation.
